Clarification

King Leo commented on my previous post asking: "Would this include the Gas Station / Burger King establishments? Or is that more acceptable in your view?"

Because said post is over two weeks old, I'm addressing his inquiry with a new entry.

Gas stations are allowed one interior fast food joint. It is not the coupling of a fast food establishment with a gas station or convenience store that bothers me. Only the coupling of one fast food restaurant with another. Therefore if a gas station contained two separate fast food alternatives, that would be unacceptable. A worse case scenario would be something along the lines of a gas station with a Sonic AND a Pizza Hut Express. If anyone doubts that a Gas Station-contained Sonic can exist, then that person should free up some time to travel with me to College Station where I will set that person straight.

I would like to send with you a homosexual who denies the existence of a gas station-contained Sonic and see if you could set him/her straight.

I don't understand how you could not find the mutliple themed eaterys brilliant. I mean the average person goes to a single fast food joint about twice a month. The reason for this mostly being because of not being "in the mood" for that perticular type of food. If you serve two completely oppisite types of food you double your interested customer base and you cut the building/maintaining/leasing/utlity/employee salary costs in half, possibly doubling or even tripling your profit margin. Now, a Coney Town and a Corndog 7 in the same place, I grant you is rediculous. Hmmm...or is it? Oh and by the way, I happen to know of a gas station in Terrell containing a Taco Bell, a KFC, and a Subway. Eat that.

Careful, Jeremy. You've overstimulated Marshall's appetite with theories of fast food combinations that will never be.

By the way, what the hell is a Coney Town?

I can see the logic in doubling your offerings to increase your customer base, but I also see that as a sign of weakness. Take Taco Bell for instance. They should say "We're gonna sell tacos because THAT'S what the people want and we're going to provide it. Mmmm tacos!" For Taco Bell to admit "Well, maybe they'd like some chicken fingers instead" shows a lack of confidence in their product. And I don't care to buy food from a place that isn't 100% behind what they're selling.

Further, it is my belief that Sonic's Chicken Club Toaster sandwich has the power to straighten out all physical and psychological anomalies.

Man, Taco Bell of all places has nothing to prove to you. You talk about a lack of confidence and needing to be 100% behind their product, but I say they have been around more than an ample amount of time to earn our respect. Their corporate logos are so embedded in the cultural psyche, they may be so arrogant as to boast these 2-in-1 facilities of which you so derogatorily speak.

Furthermore, you may abide by the unspoken rule of capitalism—if you don't like it, move to Russia.

I can't remember seeing them down here, but Arby's has joined forces with Sbarro's Pizza (of foodcourt fame). In the midwest at least, the two always appear under the same roof.
In light of Jeremy's theory about standing behind a product, it is my feeling that this case shows extreme lack of confidence. This was not a combo-joint approved by the Van Zandt County Chamber of Commerce by way of appeal from a guy who just really likes Roast Beef sandwhiches and greasy pizza. No, this was done at the corporate level. It came straight from the top, suggesting even Horatio Sbarro himself isn't really so much in love with his pies anymore.

Leave it to Jason to take it too far.
